Have you ever thought about where did Tiramisu, this special and delicious dessert, come from?
The literal meaning of Tiramisu is “pick me up”, it is an Italian dessert that made its first appearance in the second half of the 20th century. It is said it was invented in 1980 in Treviso. It seems it was invented by an intelligent military officer. A modern restaurant in the center of Treviso, called Le Beccherie added this dessert to its menu. All of the ingredients of Tiramisu are nutritious with high calories: egg, sugar, mascarpone cheese, biscuits, coffee, and cocoa powder
In this blog, we will tell you how to make a delicious Tiramisu step by step.
Step 1: in a medium bowl mix one egg yolk and 50g sugar with an electric whisk until well blended. The color should be light yellow. Put the mixture into a bigger bowl.
Step 2: whisk mascarpone, cream, and 50g sugar until it is smooth. Add this mixture to the bigger bowl of egg yolk and sugar.
Step 3: prepare the espresso (it is recommended to get your espresso from a café close to your house).
Step 4: use a sieve and sprinkle one tablespoon of cocoa powder over an 8 by 8 inches oven tray or a round-shaped 9 inches cake mold.
Step 5: dip each ladyfinger biscuit into the coffee quickly because the ladyfingers may fall apart if they’re soaked in coffee for a longer time. Put the ladyfingers in your dish. Split them in half if necessary to cover all the area. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over ladyfingers, add one layer of soaked ladyfingers and repeat the process again.
Last step: Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (24 hours would be better). You can sprinkle some cocoa powder or strips of curled chocolate on the last layer for garnish.
But we recommend using Draje Tiramisu cream powder mix. Place the Draje mix and one glass of cold milk in a mixing bowl. Mix with an electric whisk for 5 minutes until it is creamy. Use the cream mixture over and under the soaked ladyfingers. Sprinkle some cocoa powder at last for garnish and put it in the fridge for 4 hours. Enjoy your dessert.
